The Gaja Bar Stool model W58 12 was designed and developed by Kazuhide Takahama in 1974. Takahama was known for integrating traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern industrial design techniques, stating “My designs are a reflection of my journey, merging the serene minimalism of Japan with the dynamic innovation of Italy.” The Gaja Bar Stool is rooted in Rationalism, featuring a lightweight steel rod, stackable structure with a minimalist aesthetic, focussing on logical use and clear form. The Gaja series of chairs and barstools are available with a padded or unpadded wire backrest, with this W58 12 model featuring a padded backrest. It is a taller, counter height version of its dining chair counterpart.
