The LC1 Sling Chair was originally designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, debuting in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne in the trio’s “Equipment for Living” exhibition.

The chair’s original name, “1 Fauteuil à Dossier Basculant,” translates to “Armchair with Tilting Backrest.” Its revolutionary backrest tilting mechanism, combined with slung armrests, allows users to fluidly adjust their posture without knobs or controls.

The Archetype Forms LC1 Sling Chair is a faithful reproduction of the original Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand LC1 Sling Chair, also known as 1 Fauteuil à Dossier Basculant.

The LC1 Sling Chair was originally designed by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret. It revolutionized seating design with its lightweight, industrial structure and minimalist form. Inspired by colonial styles and human posture studies, the LC1 embodies Le Corbusier’s famous quote: “Chairs are architecture, sofas are bourgeois,” retaining crucial elements of design and function without excess.

The LC1features minimal components with a slim steel frame and adaptable sling seat. It aligns with the designers’ view of furniture as “equipment for living,” making it ideal for modern, space-efficient interiors.

As part of the larger LC collection, including the LC4 Chaise Lounge, LC2 Grand Confort Armchair and more, the LC1 contributes to a cohesive vision of modern living.
