MR Armchair: Cane Rattan

USD $1,460.00

The MR Armchair with Cane Rattan was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe as part of the MR Collection first introduced at the influential Stuttgart Weissenhof Estate exhibition in 1927. This MR Armchair combines the structural innovation of tubular steel with natural cane rattan. The cantilevered design was influenced by the use of tubular steel by fellow Bauhaus master Marcel Breuer and by 19th-century iron rocking chairs. This version provides a breathable and comfortable seat and back as a distinctive alternative to the leather sling version. Its original design is featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection in the UK. The MR Armchair with Cane Rattan is also available in an armless version, MR Side Chair, with both versions available in leather or cane rattan options.
