The MR Lounge Chair with Arms was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe as part of the MR Collection, first introduced at the influential Stuttgart Weissenhof Estate exhibition in 1927. The MR Lounge Chair with Arms combines a seamless tubular steel frame with a channel quilted cushion of leather, seamed into sections supported by belting straps for for relaxed support. The design was influenced by Marcel Breuer’s use of tubular steel and 19th-century iron rocking chairs. It has been recognized with awards such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Award in 1977 and the Design Centre Stuttgart Award in 1978.
