The Wishbone Chair was originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949, introduced in 1950. Each Wishbone Chair requires over 100 meticulous steps to create.

The Wishbone Chair’s instantly recognizable Y-shaped, steam-bent wood back and armrests were inspired by traditional Chinese Ming Dynasty chairs. Its seat is made from hand-woven paper cord for support and comfort.

Hans Wegner (1914-2007) was a Danish furniture designer known as the "Master of the Chair," significantly influencing Danish Modern design worldwide. He began his career after studying at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and opening his own studio in 1943.
