AF25 Lounge Chair: Hide

USD $1,180.00

Nicknamed the “Easy Chair,” this low-slung armchair was originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950 and is one of his first chairs put into production. This Hide model uses natural hides slung across the back and seat for support.

The original Easy Chair model was designed with a paper cord seat and back, with the hide version offering a different seating experience and visual aesthetic. The hide slowly forms to the body over time, providing enhanced seating comfort as it ages.

Shown in Loden Suede on White Oak with Satin Varnish.

The Archetype Forms AF25 Lounge Chair: Rope is a faithful reproduction of the original Hans J. Wegner Easy Chair, Model CH25 in Hide.

The AF25 Lounge Chair is a purist example of Wegner’s dedication to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern furniture design principles. Its low-slung profile, reclined back, and angled seat are light weight and sturdy, providing relaxed comfort giving it its “Easy Chair” moniker.

This “Hide” version features a self-supporting hide seat and back. It replaces the traditional paper cord with a single piece of taut leather, maintaining its iconic silhouette while offering a different tactile experience and texture. The natural stretching properties of the leather allow it to mold to the user’s body over time, enhancing comfort and personalization while adding patina from use.
