The LC1 Villa Church Lounge Chair was originally designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand for the Villa Church at Ville-d’Avray in 1928.

The LC1 Villa Church is a modified version of the standard LC1 sling version, offering a larger profile with soft cushioning for the seat and back.

The LC1 Series’ unique backrest and sling arms allow users to adjust their posture fluidly without knobs or controls. The Villa Church’s wider breadth offers a more relaxed seating experience.

LC1 shown in “Villa Church” Version with Gold Haired Hide on Powder Coat Black Steel. Additional upholstery variations available here.

The Archetype Forms LC1 Villa Church Lounge Chair: Wide Padded is a faithful reproduction of the original Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand LC1 1 Fauteuil À Dossier Villa Church UAM Chair.

The LC1 Series Chair was originally designed by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret. It revolutionized seating design with its lightweight, industrial structure and minimalist form. Inspired by colonial styles and human posture studies, the LC1 embodies Le Corbusier’s famous quote: “Chairs are architecture, sofas are bourgeois,” retaining crucial elements of design and function without excess.

This LC1 Villa Church Version features a wider, deeper profile than its LC1 Sling Chair counterpart, with added padding on the seat and back. It provides a more relaxed, lounged sitting experience than the traditional Sling Version. The LC1 Villa Church aligns with Le Corbusier’s view that “The home should be the treasure chest of living,” complimenting the aesthetic and function of its space while contributing to the joy of living.

As part of the larger LC collection, including the LC4 Chaise Lounge, LC2 Grand Confort Armchair and more, the LC1 Villa Church contributes to the designers’ cohesive vision of modern living.
