The MR Lounge Chair was originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and introduced in the late 1920s as part of the MR Collection. Influenced influenced by Marcel Breuerโ€™s use of tubular steel and the curved forms of 19th-century iron rocking chairs, Mies combined these elements into a cantilevered frame that used modern materials to balance strength and flexibility. The belting hide seat and high-density foam padding ensure comfort and durability, while the minimalist outline reflects his principle that โ€œless is more.โ€

The MR Lounge Chair earned recognition with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Award in 1977 and the Design Centre Stuttgart Award in 1978, highlighting its impact on modern design.
