The Papa Bear Ottoman Model was originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1951 as a companion piece to the iconic Papa Bear Chair.
First exhibited at the Tidens Møbler exhibition in 1952 Copenhagen, it is regarded as a staple of mid-century modern furniture design. Built on a sturdy wooden frame, its “Paws,” which double as handles, are a different wood type and finish than its legs.
The Papa Bear Ottoman serves as a footrest, impromptu additional seating, or a small table as needed, following Wegner’s philosophy of combining functionality and modernist principles.
