The Soft Pad Chair by Charles & Ray Eames, Model EA 220 & EA 437, was introduced in 1969 as an evolution of their earlier Aluminum Group chairs, originally designed in 1958. This chair is designed with an “executive height,” which has a higher backrest than its management height counterpart. It has soft padded, individually upholstered cushions, including a multi-padded backrest, sewn onto its one-piece stretched sling. The chair has an aluminum frame and armrests with a five-star base on castors, a pneumatic height control, and a manual tilt and tension mechanism for various angled positions. This executive height armchair’s backrest sits higher to support the upper back. The Eames Soft Pad Chairs were developed to provide a cushier alternative to the Aluminum Group chairs. They are included in the permanent collections of several museums. Find the Soft Pad Chair by Charles & Ray Eames in Canada.Shown in Piombo Aniline Leather on Glossy White Aluminum.
