MR Stool: Cane Rattan

CAD $720

The MR Stool with Cane Rattan was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1927. Influenced by Marcel Breuer’s use of tubular steel and inspired by 19th-century iron rocking chairs, the MR Stool features a seamless tubular steel frame complemented by a cane rattan seat, providing a breathable and comfortable alternative to MR Stool padded version. The MR Stool is a footrest for the MR Armchair or the MR Side Chair with Cane Rattan, impromptu seating, or a side table. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe once remarked, “It is better to be good than to be original,” highlighting his commitment to improving existing design conventions. The original MR Stool has been recognized with awards such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Award in 1977 and the Design Centre Stuttgart Award in 1978.
