The MR Table by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was originally designed in 1927. It retains van der Rohe’s philosophy of “no trivial decoration” regarding pure, simple design.

The MR Table was included in Mies van der Rohe’s renowned Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic. The Tugendhat House is a landmark of modern architecture with its furniture considered some of van der Rohe’s defining works.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) was a German-American architect and designer who profoundly shaped modern architecture and furniture design. He began his career in Berlin before emigrating to the United States in 1937. Van der Rohe''s minimalist aesthetic is epitomized by his motto "less is more." His iconic Barcelona Chair and Ottoman (1929) were designed with Lilly Reich for welcoming the Spanish King and Queen to the German Pavilion at the Barcelona International Exhibition. His Barcelona Daybed (1930) and MR Chair series (1927) further showcase his mastery of minimalist form with organic and industrial materials. Mies's architectural achievements include the Seagram Building in New York and the Farnsworth House . His work is characterized by clean lines, detailed craftsmanship, and innovative use of industrial materials.

The MR90T End Table is part of the larger MR Collection. The table is constructed of tubular and rectangular stainless steel supporting ½” thick polished plate glass.

The original MR Table is included in several collections and exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Mies van der Rohe stated “Form is not the aim of our work. It is the result,” encapsulating how the MR Table’s pleasing form is the end-result of creating a functional and purposeful table.
