The Maralunga 3-Seater Sofa was originally designed by Vico Magistretti and first produced in 1973. This iconic sofa has a first-of-its kind design with its multi-position adjustable backrest.
The Maralunga's unique headrest adjustment utilizes a bicycle chain embedded in the foam cushions to allow easy conversion from a low to high backrest position. This innovative design earned the Maralunga series the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1979.
The Maralunga 3-Seat Sofa's design with adjustable backrest is the archetype that all other adjustable backrest seating systems have since been modeled after.
