This Square End Table was designed by Florence Knoll as part of her classic 1954 collection. It captures the essence of postwar modernist architecture, with its clean lines and rational design approach she adopted from her Bauhaus mentors and colleagues.

Florence Knoll modestly referred to her designs as the "meat and potatoes" of furniture, emphasizing their essential nature. This multi-functional table is an end table or lounge table, practical for holding drinks, books, plants, and decorative items.

The 1954 Multi Table: Square features a minimalist design with a surface choice of stone, glass, or wood, supported by square tubular steel legs and rails. It is based on the Florence Knoll archives and measures 29.5" x 29.5" x 19" high.

Florence Knoll's Square End Table was created to furnish the new interiors of postwar America. It translates architectural lines, gestures, and materials into a functional domestic form, influenced by Mies van der Rohe's principles. This multi-functional taller square table is an end table or lounge table, practical for living rooms, lobbies, and entrances, used for holding drinks, books, plants, and decorative items. When butted together they can create a versatile lobby table, separated as needed.
