This rectangular coffee table was designed by Florence Knoll as part of her classic 1954 collection. It captures the essence of postwar modernist architecture, with its clean lines and rational design approach she adopted from her Bauhaus mentors and colleagues.

Florence Knoll modestly referred to her designs as the "meat and potatoes" of furniture, emphasizing their essential nature.

The 1954 Coffee Table features a minimalist design with a rectangular surface choice of stone, glass, or wood, supported by square tubular steel legs and rails. It is based on the Florence Knoll archives. It measures 45" long, 22.5" wide, 17" high.

Florence Knoll's Coffee Table design was created to furnish the new interiors of postwar America. It translates architectural lines, gestures, and materials into a functional domestic form, influenced by Mies van der Rohe's principles.
