Where we deliver
Throughout Canada and the Continental USA. Your rate is calculated at checkout. Standard
delivery is $299, and free on orders over $4,000.
Standard delivery
By appointment and to your threshold, which is typically your doorway, garage or lobby. A
signature is required for release. Smaller items may ship by courier, and still require a
signature for release.
White glove delivery
By appointment, placement in your home, room of choice up to one flight of stairs, full
removal of the packaging, and minor assembly where required. A signature is required for
release.
Taxes and duties
USA orders have no sales tax. Canadian orders have sales tax calculated at checkout. There
are no duties, tariffs or VAT on deliveries within Canada and the USA.
The Capitol Complex Armchair was originally designed by Pierre Jeanneret as part of his furniture contribution to the Chandigarh Capitol Complex project in the 1950s. Chandigarh was a major architectural endeavor led by Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, which aimed to symbolize India's post-independence optimism and modernist ideals.
The Capitol Complex Lounge Chair armchair is characterized by the series' distinctive upside-down V-shaped side supports and arms. The armrests' padding almost completely envelops them, creating the outline of a rounded, geometric shape. The thick seat, back, and arm cushioning offers immediate comfort without abandoning elegance and simplicity.

Archetype Forms Capitol Complex Padded Armchair: Lounge Chair
Pierre Jeanneret's work on the Chandigarh project blended modern design with traditional Indian elements. He remarked, “Chandigarh is like an Indian village seen through the eyes of a modern architect.” The Capitol Complex Series was part of Jeanneret’s furniture contributions to the project.
Pierre Jeanneret was a Swiss architect and designer known for his significant contributions to modernist furniture and architecture. He began his career collaborating with his cousin, Le Corbusier, and Charlotte Perriand. Their works include the LC series, including the iconic LC2 and LC3 armchairs, unveiled at the 1929 Salon d'Automne exhibition "Equipment for Living" in Paris. Jeanneret is also remembered for his work in Chandigarh, India (1951-1965), where he designed and oversaw the production of functional furniture for the city's government and public buildings. His recognizable designs include the iconic Committee Chair, the Kangaroo Chair, and Capitol Complex Chairs, all characterized by their use of local materials and simple, geometric forms. Pierre Jeanneret's versatility in design, architecture, and material usage has left an enormous mark on global design, with his work continuing to gain prominence and recognition to this day.
