Mario Belini’s original Le Bambole Modular Seating System was designed in 1972 and awarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Italian design award in 1979.
This end-corner element functions as a lounge chair on its own, or a corner or side piece of the larger Le Bambole modular system. The modules can form spacious and versatile sofas, loveseats, and chairs depending on what the mood or space requires.

Mario Bellini
Mario Bellini is an Italian architect and designer known for his innovation in furniture and industrial design. He began his career after graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1959. Among Bellini's recognizable works is his Cab Chair series (1977), which features a unique leather "skin" zipped over a steel skeleton; and, his Le Bambole sofa series (1972), which pioneered the use of polyurethane foam moulding, creating soft, inviting forms that challenged traditional furniture construction. Bellini's architectural work includes the Tokyo Design Center and the renovation of the Milan Convention Center . His designs continue to influence modern furniture and industrial design.

Padding: Flexible High-Density Shaped Polyurethane Foam

The Le Bambole modules feature padding made of flexible, cold-shaped polyurethane foam and polyester fiber. The frame is constructed from durable polyethylene. The cover for the Le Bambole series is available in fabric or leather.
The Le Bambole modular system offers endless configurations, allowing for the creation of different shapes and seating arrangements based on room layout or personal preference. Mario Bellini once stated, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works,” reflecting his commitment to functionality in furniture design.
