The Committee Chair Armchair was originally designed by Pierre Jeanneret as part of the Chandigarh Capitol Complex project in the 1950s, a major architectural endeavor led by Jeanneret and Le Corbusier to symbolize India's post-independence optimism and modernist ideals.
The Committee Armchairs were made for use in the Parliament House and administrative offices. Characterized by its distinctive upside-down V-shaped side supports, solid wood structure, and cushioned back and seat, this armrest version of the Committee Chair has padding that almost completely envelops the arms, creating the outline of a rounded, geometric shape.
The Committee Chair: Padded Armchair offers immediate comfort without abandoning elegance and simplicity.
Shown in Granite Whisper Velvet Upholstery on Black Oak Frame.
The Archetype Forms Committee Chair: Padded Armchair is a faithful reproduction of the original Pierre Jeanneret Committee Chair, also known as the Model 062 Committee Chair & Chandigarh Committee Chair.
